ABOUT ME

Kristin Gearin is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in therapy for adults, adolescents and couples, and maintains a private practice in Duxbury, MA.

With over 15 years experience providing mental health and addiction services, including over 10 years working as an independently licensed clinician, Kristin brings a wide range of experience.  Her most recent work has been with adults and adolescents, providing individual therapy to people struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, traumatic histories and substance use issues.  Prior to that , she worked for over 7 years providing mental health services in higher education settings, working with both traditional age students and adult learners on a wide range of adjustment, developmental, and mental health issues.  Much of her work has focused on helping people gain a greater understanding of themselves and live more fulfilling lives.

In addition to being an experienced therapist, Kristin provides clinical supervision to clinicians.  She has been providing clinical training and supervision to graduate students for over 10 years, and has provided clinical supervision to master's level clinicians for the past 4 years. She fills the qualifications of an "Approved Supervisor", as defined by the licensing requirements for Massachusetts Licensed Mental Health Counselors, and has over 20 hours of post-graduate training in clinical supervision.  Kristin has also served as adjunct faculty for undergraduate students, teaching courses such as Abnormal Psychology, Learning and Behavior, and Developmental Psychology.

Professional Training
Kristin completed her graduate training at Lesley College, receiving a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology in 1997.  She became a Massachusetts Licensed Mental Health Counselor in 1999, and a National Certified Counselor in 2002.  Her post-graduate training includes continuing education in women's mental health, substance abuse, treatment of couples, positive psychology and mindfulness.  In addition, she has focused on life stage issues such as adult development, adolescent issues, and college mental health.  She is currently a member of the American Counseling Association, and the Massachusetts Mental Health Counselors Association.
